In addition, the free version does not allow for additional plug-in software (such as PhotoShop) or Photoshop extensions.

Yes, the free version of Photoshop includes Lightroom version 6, which we recommend to anyone interested in learning how to edit in Photoshop.
Is there a free version of GIMP?
Yes, the free versions of GIMP include version 2 and later, which also work with Lightroom.
Do I need to subscribe to Lightroom Pro to use Lightroom?
Yes. If you are not already a registered Lightroom user, Lightroom will automatically be activated in your account upon login and will allow you to use a free account. If you choose to purchase Lightroom Professional Premium, you will need to subscribe to Lightroom before use to automatically have all the features.

Can I get a copy of my Lightroom image?
No, there is no free trial of Lightroom, but we do provide a light-box version, if you’d like to try editing your images from within your Lightroom Lightbox app.
What are some tips for using Lightroom professionally?
Use the Lightroom Lightbox to quickly test the image settings and set up an editing session.
Make sure you turn on Lightroom’s built-in filters to see what you can’t do with your camera.
Try to use a tripod when you’re working with your camera because the stabilisation will degrade the image quality.
If you aren’t used to editing with Lightroom, consider downloading the Adobe Lightroom App and using the Lightroom-to-Photoshop conversion tool to convert your image files back to normal colour, before opening the Lightroom editor.
