When I started my journey, I lost weight at a rate of 8kg (about 5 or 6lbs). Even I’m surprised with the amount of weight lost. I also gained a little waistline, because I didn’t realize how much I needed to gain that before it becomes an eating disorder. Now, I’m at the point where all I want to do is lose that weight!
Q: What are your goals going forward? I have 2 goals coming up: diet and to start living a healthy lifestyle. My husband and I really want to live this life together and have a family. I don’t know that eating well can be done alone. We are always trying the foods we want at home and at work. We are also trying to have fewer carbs in our diet and to try new recipes with healthy ingredients like vegetables and fruits!
I also hope to build a strength routine with a buddy that can assist me in achieving more than just losing weight!
Q: What can anyone who is overweight or struggling to lose weight do? I’ve used a lot of different strategies, and it wasn’t until I did a lot of eating disorder checkups that I really knew why I kept going back to my diet. I kept seeing signs of it, and I saw that I had to stop what I was doing on my own without help. In that first year, I actually lost weight and realized that everything else was just a part of the problem. I also realized my body was not working for me. I didn’t want to keep going back to my diet, it wasn’t working for me, and I felt ashamed, and that’s why I was always eating to lose weight. I didn’t want to take back control and feel like I should be able to do anything. I just wanted to feel better, without giving up on my dreams. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to change my body if I continued to stay in bed and eat, and that’s when I started to take my life in my own hands at school or work.
When I think about the last time I was able eat as much as I wanted, or had the time to do what I wanted to do, was about 3 months ago. Now, I’m a bit overweight, and I keep on trying to lose weight with all the food I want, when all I want to do is have healthy food. It’s hard to be in control of any of that while you are eating.
