This is pretty much a no-brainer: Jay Z.
He is the wealthiest member of any rap group ever, with a net worth of $2 billion. That, along with the staggering fame and fortune he has accumulated as a leader on the Billboard Top 100, has helped propel Jay Z to an early exit from the Top Three. It even put him over the $3.5 billion mark — after which he would have needed a huge performance to even challenge him.
The only rappers in the Top Five with such extensive wealth and success are Drake, Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West (who was second with $3.5 billion). Drake, who released his second full-length album, One Dance, in December, already sits at $15.6 billion. West, who dropped his album Watch the Throne in April, is tied for second with $13 billion.
And this group of rappers — especially Kanye West — are all in their fifties and early sixties.
What about Lil Wayne?
He also has a net worth of $2 billion, but his is in the hundreds of millions. But he spent much more of his paycheck last year than Beyonce — $10.4 billion — which is why Beyonce’s net worth would probably top him at the moment.
What about Beyonce’s net worth?
That’s hard to pinpoint, but it’s probably at least as much as Jay Z’s! She’s worth $7.8 billion, according to Forbes magazine, which compiles its list with the help of data from the International Monetary Fund, which also compiles the World Bank’s. By way of comparison, Kanye West’s net worth is $9.7 billion.
A quick look at the chart below will show why so many rappers are either just one step below at $3 million, or in the top 100 at $10 million — if they haven’t already — and where they might be ranked by the end of 2015.
