The next week we all saw a huge uptick in reports of the alleged hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), this time a hack at the Clinton campaign and the release of documents and emails from Hillary’s top aides.
Now, there are reports of the hacking being connected to the hack of the RNC.
On Sunday, the New York Times came out with details of the new FBI investigation into the Trump campaign and possible collusion with Russian officials in the 2016 election.
The Trump campaign was “under investigation” according to one of the sources.
From the New York Times:
Donald J. Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, has acknowledged that he initiated a meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer to get dirt on a rival’s opponent during the campaign, but he has yet to disclose what was presented during the meeting. Investigators are said to be looking into whether the Russians collected compromising information about Mr. Trump and his associates. However, the Hill says this is different from the FBI’s investigation of Trump campaign officials.
The sources told the Hill that Manafort was questioned under surveillance when he moved back to the U.S. last year, but the sources said there was never anything criminal or criminal-related uncovered that warranted criminal charges against Manafort, adding that no charges were ever filed against him in U.S. District Court, because prosecutors could not find any evidence to support such accusations.
