As I explain on this video, you can be a guitar player but not a musician, though I do think you have a knack for playing guitar in general. I’ve said this a few times now, but it bears repeating: learning guitar is much more about getting your fingers to play chords on the bridge than it is about learning the guitar. There’s so much more, but that’s my answer.
So what should I read to prepare for my first lesson?
I hope to take you up through to my first lesson (my first day, or what I feel was my first day), and then there will be a bunch of stuff you’ll take for granted: how to write (or try to write) a great demo, how to draw a bass line, how to practice scales, techniques, the importance of metronome, and what to do when you get home. I’ll take the most important advice I get, and give other bits and pieces of advice.
It would also be nice to hear you express some opinions about other things about the game, such as music, or if you prefer the game without music.
The full list of topics will be published as soon as possible, before you actually get there, so keep an eye out for that!
You have an iPhone now? Try out this free demo
For those of you with an iPhone, you probably know by now that you can test the game, or if you were like me, have it installed and ready to play, from the iTunes Store. Well what will you be using now? I’ll let you in on a little secret, as many of you have, and the reason I say that you should keep an eye out for is that Apple have put up a free demo of the game on iTunes. If you use it to do your first lesson, you can download that and play through some of those sections before you move on to my second lesson.
There’s a demo with some fun music and visuals, but there’s hardly any song in the actual game, so if you want to play that, you have to download it somewhere. Anyway, you can listen to the music on this SoundCloud by clicking the link above, and the graphics with the demo on this one, so you’ll want those. (I won’t put the links here, but you’ll want to go over this to learn how to set up a SoundCloud account which allows you listen to a demo of the game before you
